    Projects
As part of building an expanded training center, The Hormel Institute wanted to create a state-of-the-art facility for its staff and customers. Trying to maintain a connection to Hormel's history of innovation, quality, value and technology, Tierney Brothers provided an outstanding game plan for the new training center. A total of six rooms were built out by Tierney Brothers, Inc. to create synergy in its training center. Three of the rooms are featured in this case study: Large Conference Room, Seminar Room and Administrative Conference Room.

    Solution
Tierney Brothers Inc. carefully reviewed the layout of each room and built a design to maximize the technology and capacity of each space. In the Large Conference Room, Tierney Brothers mounted a Panasonic LCD projector on the ceiling and the projected image is displayed onto a SMART Technologies 77" diagonal interactive whiteboard. A single computer interface is wall mounted for simple connection to a PC/notebook. The conference table is connected to the equipment through cable cubbies and floor box.

A single computer interface plate was installed near the Big River podium and equipment rack for connection of a dedicated PC. This computer interface wall plate also contains a USB connection for the dedicated computer located in the stage room. A distributed sound system containing 8 in ceiling flush mounted speakers provides sound reinforcement within the room. A Crestron system will controls functions such as sources selection, power on/off, DVD operations, and phone dialing functions.

In the Seminar Room, Tierney Brothers provided two ceiling mounted Panasonic LCD projectors. The projected images are displayed on two wall mounted manual 60" x 80" screens with Controlled Screen Return. A third Panasonic projector was ceiling mounted and displayed onto an integrated Smart Technology 64" interactive whiteboard. An Extron matrix switcher allows the user to display any input source on any one of the three displays. In addition, a single computer interface is wall mounted for connection of a laptop. A second computer interface is wall mounted near the podium and equipment rack.

The Administrative Conference Room offered many challenges. Tierney Brothers was up to the task with its technology and innovation. The room is centralized with a ceiling mounted Panasonic projector with the projected image displayed on a 64" Smart Interactive white board, SB660. The dedicated computer located in the cabinet is connected directly to the Smart board. The Extron Media Link 104 remote control provides for projector on/off, input selection, and volume control. A Polycom Soundstation is used for audio conferencing and to improve speaker/listener clarity. A Big River custom cabinet houses the DVD player and provides a location for a laptop computer.
