Overview of Technology Grant Application Process

Grant Application Requirements
Applicants MUST please provide all requested information, including any additional attachments. Only complete applications will be considered. School information must include the contact person, title, phone, fax and email address and designate which category your school falls into, which grades your school serves and how many students will benefit from the program you are submitting for the grant. Question responses should not exceed five sentences, and must be typed. Answers must be stapled to the application form or submitted online. Grant applications should be submitted by a technology director, or equivalent or the person/team directly responsible for making education-technology decisions within your school or district. Both public and private schools are encouraged to participate. The selection panel and the management of the selection process are handled solely by the grant sponsors.
Confidentiality
The only individuals who will have access to your application (in addition to the faculty co-chairs of the grant process) prior to the announcement of the recipient will be the panelists who are assigned to read and evaluate your application.
Entry Deadlines
Applications must be submitted – by online submission, email, fax or mail - by the dates listed for your state, on the schedule page of this website.
Final Selection
After all grant applications are received, they will be distributed to a final selection panel. Grant recipients will be announced at either TIES (Minnesota), WEMTA (Wisconsin), or on our website (Iowa). Please see the schedule page for further information.
Criteria
The objective of Tierney Brothers Classroom of the Future Technology Grant is to provide substantive tools that help provide a meaningful learning experience for students of all ages.
The selection panel will evaluate grant applications for their:
- Comprehensive nature
- Detailed explanation of how technology integrates successfully into curriculum
- Description of program history, challenges, successes and outline of how additional new technology will be used in your school(s).
Evaluation will be conducted by a distinguished panel, including education consultants, marketing professionals and technology integration experts.
The panel will evaluate the grant applications for clear answers and direction on how previous technology programs and tools have been used in the school, how programs were first created or initiated, challenges and opportunities, student engagement, and future vision and goals for technology in the school.
Evaluation Criteria Each grand application answer will be assessed up to a maximum of 10 points for each of the following, with a maximum score of 50 points.
- Technology Need
- Identifies a distinct need within the educational setting.
- Solution
- Identifies and explains the value of technology in the educational setting (for administrators, educators and students).
- The Model
- Presents a credible plan to explain how the technology would integrate into each school’s individual setting and what it would offer to users.
- Challenges and Opportunities
- Offers specific challenges to technology (now or in the past) and outlines opportunities for successfully implementing or expanding the school’s educational technology offering.
- Overall Result
- Convinces the panel that the existing technology program – or plans for future integration have the potential for success and meet the goals of school and students.
